Dr Alankar Ramteke is a fellowship trained knee and hip replacement specialist practicing at Nagpur, Maharashtra, India and has participated in 4700 primary knee replacements (TKR) and hip replacement (THR) surgeries and many complex joint reconstructions and revision surgeries. He is trained in Robotic Joint Replacement surgery and has a special interest in joint preservation surgeries in the young.

He was awarded by Times of India – Times Healthcare Leaders – Service Excellence in Orthopaedic Surgery Award in August 2026. He was also awarded Lokmat Times, Excellence in healthcare award in February 2025. He received ‘Outstanding Young Achiever Award’ from the Academy of Medical Sciences (2015-16). He was awarded ‘the best Lecturer’ for his tenure (2006 - 08) at the Dept. of Orthopaedics Traumatology, at Grant Medical College & Sir J.J. Group of Hospitals, Mumbai University. He passed his MS (Orth) Degree exam with top grades at, Grant Medical College.

Fellowships and Speciality Training

Dr Ramteke trained at the Hospital for Special Surgery, New York, USA under the prestigious Ranawat Joint Replacement Fellowship in 2013. In 2009, he received fellowship training at St. John of God Health Care and Musculoskeletal Research Centre, La Trobe University at Melbourne, Australia, in knee surgery, joint replacement & reconstruction surgery. In 2008, he was awarded hip & knee reconstruction fellowship, at Kyung Hee University Neo Medical Centre, at Seoul, Korea.

Advanced Surgical Training Around the world

Dr. Ramteke has continuously upgraded his surgical skills at training facilities around the world. He was trained in Direct Anterior Approach at Instructional course, at MS Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore, in September 2026 and also at Hip Experts Forum Cadaveric Course, conducted at Singapore, in September 2024. He received Robotic TKR traning at Singapore (2025, 2026) and at various cadaveric training centres. He received training in DAA (Direct Anterior Approach) THR, at Hip Orthopedic Centre, at Argonay, France in 2022. As aTravelling fellow, he received training in Revision joint replacement surgery, at Center of Arthroplasty, Asklepios Orthopaedic Clinic, Lindenlohe, Germany, in March 2016. He received hands-on advanced joint replacement training at cadaver labs at Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University (2015) and at Chulalongkorn University (2011) in Thailand. In 2007, he underwent travelling fellowship in shoulder arthroplasty at University of Insubria, Varese, in hip arthroplasty at Casa de Cura, St. Anna Hospital, Brescia, in Italy and knee arthroplasty, at Klinikum Mannheim, Heidelberg University, in Germany.

Academic positions

He is a member of Editorial Board of Indian Journal of Orthopaedics and Journal of Orthopaedic Case Reports. He is also a reviewer for key international journals in the field of knee and hip surgery. He has a number of publications in reputed international journals in joint replacement surgery.
